SK Telecom announced on May 31, 2011 that the company will spin off its platform division, aiming to boost growth of its new business, according to Reuters. It is reported that SK Telecom's platform operation includes mobile content, applications, and services. The platform division will be split from SK Telecom as of October 1, 2011, and it will then become a wholly-owned unit by SK Telecom. It is projected that the decision has to be approved by board of directors and stakeholders.
